The Atlanta Area Section participates
in the AACE International Competitive Scholarship process by distributing
the applications and information about the AACE Scholarships to
universities in Georgia. These scholarships are funded by all AACE members contributing to the Scholarship Fund and are primarily administered by the Education Board of AACE at the International Headquarters. Atlanta Area Section officers review the applications made by the students in Georgia and rate the applicants, forwarding the results to AACE Headquarters. They are then distributed to the Education Board for a second round of judging. After the board reaches their decision, candidates are notified. For specific dates: Applications are accepted between January 1st and February 15th each year. Students are notified around July 1st of the results. More information can be found at the Association's website, www.aacei.org/awards/scholarships/. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In addition to the scholarship(s) offered by AACE International, the Atlanta Area Section awards an annual scholarship in conjunction with the Georgia Engineering Foundation and AACE International. The Georgia Engineering Foundation (GEF), chartered in 1971, is dedicated to helping future engineers through philanthropic and educational endeavors related to engineering throughout Georgia. GEF is made up of 14 professional engineering societies and four associate member organizations, of which the Atlanta Area Section is one. The Atlanta Area Section Board of Directors has elected to offer a $2,000 scholarship in 2012.
